Where Were You When The World Lost Aaliyah ??? posted by on August 25, 2011

Aaliyah, you will be forever missed... Both you, and your potential that this world would never see over the last ten years.

Many would agree, one of the most Angelic beings to have ever hit the Entertainment Industry was Aaliyah Houghton, who tragically passed away 10 years ago today, at the young age of 22 years old, when her Cessna plane crashed in the Bahamas after wrapping filming of her final video, “Rock The Boat“.  It was found later that the crash was likely caused because the single engine plane was carrying too much weight from passenger luggage.

I remember I was in Frankfurt, Germany, visiting one of my friends who had just moved there from the states.  I was traveling all throughout Europe in Fall of 2001.  We were hanging at his place with some friends when Germany radio chimed in for an Emergency Breaking News segment.  Of course, I didn’t understand a word that was being said, but my friend jumped in and said “Wait… They’re saying that Aaliyah just died in a plane crash“.

That is another one of those moments in life that will rarely be forgotten.  I’m pretty sure anybody who knew of Aaliyah at the time knew where they were when they heard news of her passing, and were just as shocked as everyone else around the Globe.  It was so tragic to see such a young talent, blooming her way to absolute superstardom, losing it all while chasing her dream.

And just 2 weeks after this news broke, was when the world would forever be changed by the Events of 9-11.

The world definitely felt like it was upside down… Much like today.

Aaliyah, you will be forever missed… Both you, and your potential that this world would never see over the last ten years.

Jay-Z’s Newly Signed Artist, K. Koke, Arrested On Murder Charge posted by on April 7, 2011

Jay-Z is having a Hard Knock Life... reconciling his with the nights of March 9th

25 year-old British Hip-Hop Artist Kevin Georgiou, otherwise known as “K. Koke” was arrested in connection with shooting a man in the back in Harlesden Train Station on March 9th, strangely the same landmark date as when Jay-Z lost one of his best friends to gunfire, Notorious B.I.G.

Jay-Z signed the artist in January to his Roc-Nation label under the RCA umbrella.  K. Koke grew up in the Stonebridge section of London and often raps about the violent lifestyle he grew up in, resembling life in the projects of most artists who grew up in New York.  The artist deal for K.Koke was a joint venture between Roc Nation and Koke’s own Suspect Entertainment (probably not a great choice of words for right now), which was formed in 2005.

Georgiou is the 5th person arrested in the shooting incident, and is due to appear before Blackfriars Crown Court on June 15.
